Drug Test Instructions • Quest Diagnostics

Your order contains a drug test that will be collected at Quest Diagnostics. You will be registered within the Quest Diagnostics system after 1 business day of placing your order. Once you are registered, you will receive an email with the registration number (QPassport ID) to have your drug test collection performed. Your QPassport ID number will also be provided on this page along with your collection facility location. Please be aware that walk-ins are acceptable and it is not necessary to schedule an appointment.

You must use the collection site that is listed here. Having your drug test collection performed at a different location may cause an additional fee and/or lost results.

Click here to request to request a different collection site.

Drug test results will not be found here. Drug test results will be found under View Results.

You must provide this QPassport ID number at the specimen collection site, along with a valid ID. Do not visit the collection site until you have been provided with the QPassport ID number.

You may visit the specimen collection site during their available hours. Appointments are not necessary. You MUST use the collection site that is provided to you. Having your drug test collection performed at a different location may cause an additional fee and/or lost results.

Drug test extensions are not permitted by donor request. If your registration has expired and you need a new expiration date, you must place a new order OR contact your program administrator. Your program administrator can submit a drug test expiration request from their viewpointscreening.com login.

Registrations may not be extended beyond 6 months. If your expired drug test was ordered over 6 months ago, you will need to place a new order to receive a new registration.

Your school has contracted with Viewpoint Screening to furnish your drug testing to ensure the correct type of drug test is administered. The drug test must be performed through the process provided by Viewpoint Screening. Drug tests performed by outside agencies are not permitted. This includes results provided by your physician's office, urgent care centers, hospitals, pharmacies or place of employment.

If any of the following situations apply, you will be financially responsible for placing a new drug test order (if acceptable by your program administrator)

⬪ Drinking too much water may cause your sample to be diluted.
⬪ If your sample is tampered with and/or diluted, the lab will be unable to provide results.
⬪ If you leave the collection site without producing a sample, or don't provide enough of a sample, you will not be provided with an updated registration code.
⬪ Specific Gravity and/or pH levels out of range.
⬪ Any other attempt to tamper with the sample, accidental or not.

Quest Diagnostics employs methods to detect attempts at cheating. Their labs use sophisticated screening processes to identify adulterants and substituted samples.

Repercussions from your institution may include:
⬪ Dismissal from the program or course: Many educational institutions that require drug tests state that a positive drug screen or attempting to cheat may result in dismissal.
⬪ Termination of employment/externship: Cheating can lead to immediate termination for misconduct.
⬪ Ineligibility for future employment: Being caught attempting to cheat can significantly harm future job prospects.

Legal Consequences:
⬪ Fines, probation, or imprisonment: In many states, attempting to defraud or falsify drug test results is illegal and can lead to criminal charges.
⬪ Permanent record of violation: This is especially relevant in safety-sensitive industries, where a violation can be recorded and prevent future employment.

Common Methods Used to Cheat (and why they are risky):
⬪ Substitution: Using synthetic urine or another person's urine. Labs and collectors take measures to detect this, like checking temperature and monitoring collection.
⬪ Dilution: Drinking excessive fluids before the test to lower the drug concentration. While this might result in a "negative dilute" and a possible retest, it can also lead to the sample being considered invalid.
⬪ Adulteration: Adding substances to the urine sample to mask drugs. Labs actively work to detect these adulterants.

Your drug test has already been purchased. If the instructions above are followed correctly, you will not be required to pay Quest Diagnostics for your drug test. Viewpoint Screening is not responsible for erroneous registrations and/or payments to third parties.

If a drug test result is not negative, it will be sent to a Medical Review Officer (MRO) for additional testing. The MRO will contact you via phone to determine if there is a medical condition or valid prescription that could result in the positive test. Click on Workflow below for more information.

The MRO process adds an average of 3 days to the turnaround time.

Negative drug test results are typically returned within 1 to 3 business days. If it has been over 5 business days since the collection was administered, please email studentsupport@viewpointscreening.com

Drug tests that are sent to the MRO are returned within an average of 6 days.

Employees at Quest Diagnostics may provide you with an ETA for your results. This is speculation and not a valid timeframe.
